Spreading the Light Together: A Joint Call to Remember Kristallnacht 2025

On the night of November 9, 2025 (19 Heshvan 5786), communities around the world will mark 87 years since Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass.” This historic event, in which synagogues and Jewish institutions across Germany and Austria were burned and destroyed, remains one of the darkest moments preceding the Holocaust.

To honor the memory of those lost and to stand together against hatred, Yad Vashem and the Religious Kibbutz Movement have launched the #SpreadTheLight initiative. On this night, synagogues, cultural centers, and community buildings across the world will leave their lights on as a visible symbol of remembrance, resilience, and hope.

Root Source is proud to partner with this initiative through our own program, Light Up The Church. While #SpreadTheLight focuses on Jewish synagogues and institutions, we invite Christians everywhere to participate as well.

If you are a Christian, you can stand in solidarity by joining Light Up The Church 2025. Register your church, group, or home gathering at lightupthechurch.org. Together, we can ensure that the light of remembrance shines brightly across the world — from synagogues to churches, from Jerusalem to every corner of the globe.

Let us join hands across faiths, keeping the lights on and our hearts open.
